Comedy from the SPLC

So, I got an email after Laguna Beach I from a representative of the Southern Poverty Law Center by the name of David Holthouse.

It read:

This is an interview request for Joseph Turner or any other authorized Save
Our State spokesperson.

I'm a writer for the Intelligence Report, a publication issued by the
Southern Poverty Law Center that focuses on neo-Nazi and other organized
racists in the U.S.

As you are almost certainly aware by now, more than a dozen neo-Nazi "white
nationalists" attended the Save Our State protest in Laguna Beach last
Saturday (see attached photo). One of the skinheads who was photographed
several times holding a Swastika flag was also photographed holding a Save
Our States banner.

I've read SOS's official policy on "White Supremacists, White Power, KKK,
etc." on the forum rules, but I'd appreciate hearing your response to the
neo-Nazi presence at Saturday's rally as well as any clarification or
emphasis you wish to offer re: neo-Nazis at SOS events.

I'm writing an article on Saturday's event, and my deadline is Wednesday
morning.

Now. I thought about not responding and simply ignoring the email. But, I wanted to play along and see exactly how this guy would deal with my email. So, I wrote back the following which I have copied exactly word for word:

Hello David:

I am very well aware of their presence at our event.

You stated that you read my message board posting regarding the subject.
Obviously, to the casual obeserver, one might be confused then to see
their presence at our events.

Well, the answer is very simple.Â* We are unable to really do anything
about it.Â* At previous rallies, we have asked police departments to
separate us from the members of the "open borders lobby" as they have
attacked our participants.Â* However, we are met with resistance and
repeatedly told by law enforcement that they have no power to prevent or
remove or separate anyone from our group/events.

Short of just ceasing our operations, there seems to be very little we can
do to keep them from piggybacking off of our activism.Â* I have spent the
entire weekend thinking about how to handle this situation, asked our
members to bring forth ideas, etc.

There isnt an easy solution.Â* The solution I have come up with can be

I do not support any racist/supremacist idealogy, jewish conspiracies,
etc.Â* We have a membership that consists of many of all races and
demographics, including legal immigrants.Â* It has caused great dissention
in our membership as many are upset at their constant participation at
Save Our State events.

If you have any advice on how to maintain physical separation, I would
appreciate it.Â* At this time, police departments have been anything but
helpful and feel like the only way we can protect ourselves is by taking
the measures listed in the link and implementing them.

Aside from calling us anti-immigrant and suggesting that my philosophy of "aggressive activism" and making reference to illegal immigration turning this state into a "third world cesspool" somehow equates to racism, there are some other interesting little tidbits.

He writes:

Turner has told members of his Web site's forum that he opposes white supremacists joining his protests, and he wrote to the Intelligence Report "there seems to be very little we can do to keep them from piggybacking off our activism. ... [W]e are unable to really do anything about it."

Notice the inversion of the statements above placing the earlier statement I made last. Also notice how he leaves out why I state there is nothing we can do about it? Notice that the author does not present a solution to deal with this problem?

Also, Don Silva is a very valuable member of this organization and has put in a lot of work behind the scenes to help Save Our State. However, the only official spokesman for this organization at this time is moi. No doubt, this writer has been hanging around IndyMedia for too long.

The author also picked out a statement made by a poster and chastised us for not deleting it. Excuse me, I am sorry. We are not going to read all 300+ posts each day and catch each one of them.

Besides, it is a public messageboard, we have moles and trolls working for the opposition in here and for all I know, the person in question could be one of the SPLC's moles, etc.

Anyway, I thought you guys might get a laugh and some insight into how our opposition thinks and works. Like I honestly give a **** what the SPLC thinks about me or Save Our State.

GROUP.

Erasing our borders is their goal.

Also, if law enforcement say they have no power to remove them (and they don't if the neos have their i's dotted and their t's crossed) then what they hell makes the SPLC think YOU can remove them???

Years ago, teenagers rebelled against authority by growing long hair, flying the Viet Cong flag and demonstrating for a Communist victory in Viet Nam.

Now, teenagers rebel against authority by shaving their heads, flying the Nazi flag and demonstrating for an American victory over Mexico.

I understand the long hair, anti-viet nam war protest thing because we had the draft then, it was cool to be against the war, and if you wanted to score with chicks, it helped to be "cool".

Now after years of long hair, shorter hair is making a comeback. I can understand that. Some youth are still rebelling against authority and I can understand that.

The nazi flag thing, I don't understand. Are there a bunch of chicks out there who think Nazi flags are cool? Am I missing something?
The problem is the teenagers or young adults, are lost and confused, at that point in their lives, allowing them to be too weak to resist the teachings and preachings of an adult leader.

Do you remember the Heaven's Gate Cult? Same thing. An adult seeks out weak persons, who also can bring in others to the group, they indoctrinate them, feed them care for them, offer parental guidance, but slowly win over their minds, and convince them they are doing God's work.

Hitler, Ussama bin laden, used the same tactics. Weak-minded people seeking an answer will gravitate toward, a leadership, that promises the solutions.
