SILVER SPRING, Md. — Authorities said there was growing concern on Wednesday about crime in an area bordering two Maryland counties.
In the last two weeks, one block in Silver Spring has separated a homicide and a police shooting, News4’s Miguel Almaguer reported.

Tis truly a cesspool down theere. i avoid the area whenever I can, but when I do have to go through it.....<shudders>

The entire area is turning into what's worst of the barrio. Aside from driving through, you pretty much better not show your face in some parts of this area, if you're a gringo. Even driving through can be a trail. So many damn cars on the road, trafic inches along, and pedestrians just walk in front of you, not to mention being assaulte4d by blasting mariachi and salsa music the entire time.

The area isn't just in two maryland counties, it also stretches pretty far into DC (both counties border DC) into what used to be black neighborhoods.
